This pleasant tap room in the upper floor of the brewery is obviously a good place to sample the York Brewery beers but is also a tranquil drinking place with few distractions, not least as the tucked-away location deters the usual tourists and weekend party groups.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Tap Room

Tap for the York Brewery, somewhat hidden away in a side street behind the bustle of Micklegate. Indeed, even once you've located the building, it still isn't that straightforward to find the bar as you go inside the small courtyard and up a narrow flight of stairs. However, once having done that, you find a fairly compact three-room arrangement as you first enter the bar, and then a lounge, with a pool room beyond. Mix of furniture, but well lit to make up for the lack of natural light under the pitched roof. Six of the 'house' ales - in a range of styles - were available on handpump, and I opted for the T'otherside IPA (in fine form, as you would expect so close to home, and just £2.90). NB - Depending on which doors happen to be open, you can also get a view of parts of the brewing operation on the way through.

Up until recently this was a members only club of which I'd been a member for years. I believe members still get a small discout with every pint they buy, but it is now open to all except on one members only night per week. The furniture is an eclectic mix of reclaimed chairs, tables & sofas. All the walls are covered in pictures and there is bric-a-brac on every available flat surface. The full range of York beers is usually available on the bar, they even sell a lager now! It's a nice hidey hole from the Micklegate madness.

Brewery tap for the York brewery that it lies within. One single room with side bar dispensing six York brewery ales, the usual range plus one or two seasonal. The prices i believe are substituted and Guzzler was available at £2.80. a nice place to stop for a drink, a bit out the way so i guess would be quiet on weekdays as its relatively unknown. on the Saturday night I visited it was extremely busy. worth a visit but little outside guests means York brewery beers obviously are all your going to get, this if fine if you like York brewery beers, I personally find a lot not to my taste but well kept none the less.
