Will Larter left this review about The Concle Inn

A concle, as described to me by the friendly landlord, is a pool of water. Apparently there was one near here that was big enough to use as an anchorage, but it gradually silted up to the point where it was used as a bathing place, as depicted in the pub sign. He was very friendly and chatty, and helped sort out the mystery of why there was no ferry running to Piel Island (someone decided not to bother opening the pub, and no pub = no ferry). In the absence of real ale, I plumped for the Bass Mild XXXX, which was drinkable but rather cold.
