Graham Coombs left this review about Salt Granary Wharf

One of the three Ossett/Salt bars in the Granary Wharf development, this one being a modern glass and steel construction in the base of a residential block. Perhaps it feels better at night, but in daylight it all seemed a bit spartan. The seating outside by the canal is ok though. The bar has a good selection of Salt craft keg, with Ossett Blond and White Rat on handpump. My only gripe is that without exception they were all of the IPA/golden variety. Food is provided by a felafel kitchen at the back.

Old Boots left this review about Salt Craft & Falafel

Rather crafty bar on the ground floor of the Candle Tower, obviously the room and counter are semicircular, the counter front is finished in green patterned but Victorian looking tiles. There’s money been spent on the interior with high quality slate flooring. A rack of taps with Salt beers at one end and a mix of more or less interesting ones at the other. Two hand pulls to keep up the cask side but just a White Rat on which I didn’t dare risk, it’s just not that kind of place. Inside it’s low benches and tables with some higher tables and stools to complement. There’s a food ordering hatch near the back opposite the facilities and it has a reasonable amount of canalside terrace.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Craft Asylum #1

Ground-floor bar under the towering 'Candle' building, recently repurposed by Ossett using the label of its Salt offshoot. The trendy modern bar look hasn't changed much, and there are still the part-covered outside tables for the better weather. Beer-wise, the 14 craft beer and cider taps on the bar-back may catch the eye, but my attention was drawn to the four handpumps on the counter and the guest White Rat (£3.30) in particular. Still well worth a visit.

Old Boots left this review about Candlebar

Closing on Sunday 21st October 2018 and reopening 16th November as "Craft Asylum"

Ossett says it will be "A new craft-focused city centre bar, showcasing modern hop-forward
beers from Salt Beer Factory and leading guest breweries." Salt Beer is their 'craft' brewery.

Thuck Phat left this review about Candlebar

A modern, Osset owned bar on Granary Wharf specialising in Japanese food.
It's well done inside and hangs together but is unashamedly a modern bar so don't expect anything in the way of a traditional boozer.
The staff are young, attractive and trendy as well as being very good humoured, efficient and knowledgeable on their beer.
There's an extensive menu offering Japanese food in various guises. It isn't just sushi and sashimi and there's also the option of a variety of Japanese tapas. We went for a mixture of dishes which were delicious and filling and although not cheap they were a real treat.
Many of the customers weren't eating though and there isn't any pressure, or even any invitation, to do so.
Three handpumps were clipped Osset Yorkshire Blonde, Rat White Rat and Reservoir Rats and there's a fair range of keg options listed on the blackboard behind the bar. Everything we tried was in very good nick. There's also an extensive range of both sake and gin.
A very good spot for a pint to watch the world go by and even better if you like Japanese food.

Bucking Fastard left this review about Candlebar

This semi circular bar on the ground floor of a modern building gives great views of the boating traffic around Granary Wharf on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal. There is a mix of seating, some high tables, some dining tables and the tea lights enhance the genteel atomsphere. It's a sushi bar along with other Japanese dishes, all delivered from a side open kitchen, takeaway is available.Owned by Osset Brewery, drinkers are also catered for with three real ale handpumps and one dedicated to real cider, together with a larger array of craft keg taps, although nothing at the knockout end of the ABV scale. My Resevoir Rats on handpump was very decent at £3.25.
I liked this bar,a bit of Japanese art of the walls, gentle muzak,so its worth a visit if you are hitting the Granary Wharf real ale outlets, and although I didn't eat ,other peoples sushi did look wonderful.

Fairly quiet in here on our late Sunday afternoon visit. Only 8 of us in the whole place. The barstaff were taking the opportunity to put up the Xmas decorations, so were a bit distracted. It will be great to sit in the outside area overlooking the canal basin in Summer. That certainly wasn't an option during our wet & windy visit. Only two handpumps on the bar and only one beer from Fernandes actually available. It was a good pint though. Quite liked it in here, so well try a visit when it's fine and warmer.

Real Ale Ray left this review about Candlebar

A new trendy and bustling pizza/bar serving 14 craft beers, 2 hand pulled ales and a wide range of expensive wines. The space consists of a long bar along the right hand wall, with all the craft beers served from the back wall. The craft beers and prices were displayed clearly under each font. The ceiling was open plan with brightly painted steel beams.
The bar and seating areas were separated by a low partition wall. The far end of the bar housed the open to view pizza kitchen. The décor near the entrance consisted of some antlers and an animal hind displayed on the wall, most probably from an African Gazelle, hopefully it died of natural causes. The music playing on our visit was manufactured dirge.
Beer wise we went for the Fernandes Ale to the Tsar and Rat Brewery White Rat on handpump. Also tried from the Craft beer selection, Meantime London Pale Ale, Fernandes Westgate Wobble, Mahou Spanish lager and the West 4 lager, have to say the West 4 lager was very good. The pizzas we tried were very thin and covered with a lot of vegetation, which were overpriced for what you got.
