Very impressive bar on the top floor of an old building which is now Monument Mall. It's accessible by a lift or by lots of steps. There's one massive room under the main glass dome of the building plus a small side annex with views down Grey Street. A large tree with fairy lights dominates the middle of the bar which is a Scottish style island one. Lots of high tables along with standard dining tables and chairs. There's also an open kitchen down a few steps. As with all bars owned by New World Trading the real ale is served from fake casks behind the bar. I had a pint of Passionate Blonde which is brewed for them by Cloudwater in Manchester, very nice it was too. It's a bit pricey in here, as all the chains bars are, but it is classy. We'll be back next time as the other half loved it.

The entrance to the Botanist can be found in a side street, around the corner from Jamie's restaurant. Once through the doors you have a choice of taking the five flights of stairs or the lift. Once into the roof top pub, you will find a central bar area with seating around the perimeter, and open view kitchen over in the far corner. The deco here is as you'd expect, very botanical, with artificial trees and climbing ivy and a floral theme. There is also a large glass dome in the centre of the room, which can bee seen from street level. All the timber work is painted light green and flooring is timber. Lots of Samuel Adams key keg fonts on display, and continental lagers. This is a new venue, so it does get very busy.
