ROB Camra left this review about Roots Bar

Advertising itself as a Rum Shack this is one of the many small bars that have sprung up along Newland Avenue in the last few years. It has a very narrow frontage, which is very deceptive as it goes back a long way. It's nicely decorated in the style of a Jamaican beach bar, with several sets of standard tables and chairs at the front and a couple of high tables and stools to the rear. They also specialises in Caribbean food and cocktails. There's no real ale on the bar of course, so I settled for a Red Stripe, or at least I would have done if they'd had any. Ms CAMRA only wanted a tonic water as it was very early afternoon and they didn't have any of that either! Get the ordering sorted out guys. We had to leave without a drink on this occasion.
