A long and narrow bar in the heart of Stokes Croft, it can perhaps be a little gloomy internally due to the lack of much natural light, although the large windows at the front do perhaps negate this somewhat. The dark maroon paintwork on the ceiling doesn’t help on this regard, although there was at least cream paint on the walls. The flooring was some type of wooden laminate and there were plenty of small pictures on the left hand wall, many of Bristol scenes by the look of it. A number of low leather arm chairs were at the front of the pub, and an old cable reel had been made in to a table.

Live music was on at the rear of the pub on our recent visit, and this seemed to be a collection of open mic type acts rather than one particular band. A charge of £3 for entry was consequently levied, although due to the temporary looking nature of the cash desk I assume that this is not always the case. Music style seemed to be mostly of the reggae / rap genre, and was a little too loud for easy conversation, even when sat at the very front of the pub.

Unfortunately there were no ales on tap, real or otherwise. There was however Thatcher’s Gold cider available.

Since the last update today I noted people in/sat outside so thought I'd pop down as friend wanted to stay local.

As mentioned another arcade to bar conversion like The Urban Standard further up the A38. This is a long deep bar with open plan at front with a bar on the right. The right hand side beyond has a raised area set up for live music etc as referred to below along with a dj area. The initial front area and left hand side is a mixture of tables, chairs and sofas. Mixture of old Brown furniture and some innovative items like a slim euro pallet on a metal frame.

Decor wise the left hand side has a plethora of pictures of local and associated Bristolians along with new and old local history pictures.

There is no real ale on tap but tribute and proper job available in bottles. Thatchers was available on draught.

At the rear is a small back yard area for smokers and a couple of tables placed out the front in Stokes Croft.

All in all a pleasant bar which should appeal to the area once established with events and potential in the day with food etc.

Post 6th Sept Pre 13th

Well after passing on the bus today and post picture taking I knew it was unlikely to be finished opening postponed to 13th. See if that slips too.
