Members-only club that will happily sign ale drinkers in at quieter times, they seemed quite pleased when I flashed my CAMRA card. Large building with a lounge to the left and a large public bar/function room to the right which held a pool table, two dart boards and large screen TVs showing Wimbledon and World Cup football. Also a jukebox and wifi. Two Altons Ales on, both were in very good shape and our midday visit found a professional barmaid who made sure to pull a bit through first (unlike the Red Lion!). Above the bar were hanging a couple of CAMRA Club of the Year certificates for Hampshire. Friendly punters inside and we struck up conversation, made to feel welcome despite clearly being outsiders. A good bet and worth dropping in based on my visit.
