More European café than English pub, this bright open bar is modern, shiny and tolerant of a wide variety of people. There is a large open terrace at the front, lots of stainless steel trim to the furniture and a weird set of mobiles hanging from the ceiling lights alongside a sad-looking glitter ball. Families come here for the café side, as it’s convenient for the town centre, probably in happy ignorance of the fact that this is a venue for various sexually eccentric cliques. There are no handpumps but several European lagers and ciders sit in bottles alongside Bath Gem and Spitfire. As cafes go, this isn’t my cup of tea.
