Blackthorn _ left this review about The Terrace Cafe Bar

As it’s name suggests, this is more of a café/bar type establishment than your regular pub, but there are nonetheless a range of drinks on tap, albeit none of them real ale. First impressions weren’t great with a member of staff sat around on the steps just outside the pub doorway having a smoke. The outside terrace offers great views across to Knightstone Island and all the way down the front to Uphill.

The entrance hallway has had small tables and chairs squeezed along either side to maximise the seating space, but other than that it’s all one open plan room, split over a couple of different levels with some wooden balustrade separating the two. The rear bar contains the bar counter and has flag stone type tiles on the floor, whilst the front section up a couple of steps has some type of wood laminate. A large window made the most of the outlook, and the wall surrounding the window was clad in wood panelling. Elsewhere the paintwork was a mixture of white and deep salmon. A couple of LCD screens on the wall were showing a football match. We didn’t study the menu, but there were a few pre-packaged cakes and chocolate bars for sale on the end of the bar counter.

Unfortunately as mentioned previously, there were no real ales on tap, just keg Gem. Ciders fared somewhat better though with Thatcher’s Gold and Black Rat.

This is very much a bar with the cafe as a potential after thought from my visit on a sweltering Friday afternoon.

Although lacking real ale it has a wide selection of drinks available on draught. The place itself it quite small after traversing the steps down from Birnbeck Road or up from the upper level sea front path.

Once inside the place is set out with tables mostly for 4 with a TV showing Sky Sports with a dividing wall and slight upper tier adjacent to the bar with a corridor style seating area to the left taking you to the rear entrance and terrace overlooking the marine lake.

Food is available and from the terrace/window seats offers nice views overlooking the Grand Pier, Central Weston and afar as Uphill and beyond.
