Located on the popular Regent Street strip leading up to the Grand Pier, the entrance to this pub is not especially noticeable, being set back from the road behind the frontage of the adjacent building and with just a small entranceway leading to a flight of stairs. Once you get up to the first floor though, it opens up in to a very large, open plan space. The requirement for any sort of membership fee now seems to have been dispensed with so anyone can just wander in and grab a pint even if you’re not partaking of any of the available games.

It’s certainly not a cosy or attractive pub, being a very large, open plan space as mentioned previously with much of the floor area being taken up with pool tables. Flooring was some sort of plastic looking wood effect laminate, whilst the ceiling was suspended tiles like you might expect in an office or shop. A real pet hate of mine in pubs. There were also though quite a few long high tables to sit at, or fitted corner sofas that had been arranged in such a way as to make individual seating areas. Even if you’re not playing though, you really can’t escape the sports theme and I counted 25 TV screens around the pub, including a couple of large projection screens. Besides the pool, there were also a number of darts boards and fruit machines.

The solitary beer on tap was Doom Bar, although whether it was keg or cask I’m not entirely sure. The pump clip described it as a Amber Cask Ale, but it was served though a keg tap. There was a proper handpump for Sharp’s Atlantic, but this rather gave the impression of being disused. Ciders were well represented though, with no less than six from Thatcher’s – Gold, Gaze, dark Berry, Rascal, Cloudy Apple and Blood Orange. Overall, this was better than expected with friendly staff and a very good pizza, but it’s still not anywhere I’ll be rushing back to.

After adding this and visiting today this is a members bar but given the sporting facilities of gigantic screen e.g 1 1/2 times the size of my bathroom/kitchen, 10 pool tables, american pool tables and snooker tables for the £1 temporary membership it's worth retaining given it's in a popular tourist resort where from visits to most pubs sports isn't always the first consideration.

Gigantic open plan room with small roof terrace containing all the above mentioned sports tables complete with monster booths for watching the mammoth projector screen.

Has Doombar so real ale box ticked along with food, quiz night and everything you want in a pub. I sense the membership fee is a licencing bypass/cash in on tourists etc but it's worth paying it in my opinion.

If local to Weston yearly membership is £8 and again worth it to watch anything remotely football with an atmosphere.
