A nicely kitted out Spoons this one with a turquoise metallic looking bar front. Black display cabinets along the back wall of the bar, featuring Craft beer cans and bottles added a colourful feature. There was also lots of ropes wrapped around the support trusses in the main area with pendant lamps attached to them, which made an unusual feature. A couple of interesting beers looked appealing on handpump, Milestone Hammerhead Stout and Arkell's Kingsdown Dark Ale. I went for the stout, 5.6% at £2.46 a pint.

Set back from Castle Street by a couple of rows of picnic tables the Stamford Post is easily missed, which is surprising as it is a large Wetherspoons. The square interior is open plan with a mix of high and regular height tables as well as some booths that run along the exposed brick rear wall to the right. On the wall to the right of the entrance is a food serving hatch and the bar counter is located on the far left wall. Standard and premium keg were available and there are two banks of six handpumps. Alongside the usual Spoons mainstream cask was Peerless Brewery’s Jack Frost Blonde, Grainstore’s Zahara and Rutland’s Osprey. During my recent midweek afternoon visit it was half full in here with a more well-to-do crowd than your average JDW.

This is a new (2014) Spoons that is a conversion from an old newspaper office building rather than a Post Office. It's a bit of a barn but the fixtures and fittings are a bit better than older outlets.
I didn't have time to note all the beers on the 12 hand pumps but there were Milestone Sherwood and American Red, the JDW trio Of Doom, a Navigation beer, Grainstore GB Best, Caledonian Ithaca Nut Brown and Newby Wyke White Squall.
I went for the White Squall which was in good nick and came with the half chicken offer. I think the standard guest price here was about average.
