Real Ale Ray left this review about The Chequered Flag

Sister pub to the York Chambers in Long Eaton. We called here on a Sunday, where we met the owner of the two pubs. The pub was quite early doors and we were told that from 3pm onwards the place is full. The main theme to the pub is obviously motor racing and the owner has collected and received signed photos of various motor sport icons, which are displayed around the walls.
This micro was a former butcher's shop and the layout of the pub is long and narrow. The front of the pub has high leather banquette seating with high tables, the idea behind this is that if you're standing, your seated fellow drinkers are at level height to you.
The middle section has a small bar with till and beyond this is the cold room and toilets are at the back. There was also some seating along the front pavement area.
Six ales and six ciders on our visit, so I went for the Tollgate Ashby Pale and the Little Critters White Wolf. This is a very friendly and welcoming micro, where chatting to the locals and the owner and enjoying good beer, made this a difficult place to leave. Regardless of beer strength, all the beers are priced at £3.40 a pint.
