Graham Coombs left this review about Tafarn Cwmdu

A small slice of the past owned and restored by the National Trust and run by community volunteers along with the adjoining post office stores. Located in a pretty terrace of cottages, this ancient and atmospheric pub has a central hallway with a servery room one side and a parlour the other. Furnishing is a motley assortment of wooden seating, with the only jarring items being a modern clock and some fairy lights over the inglenook fireplace. A stillage behind the servery counter has a couple of barrels (Evan Evans Warrior at time of visit) and some cider boxes. Pictures of former landlords/ladies and village characters adorn the walls and historical notes are available. Opening hours can be a little peculiar, including 13.30 closing most weekdays and not opening Sundays or Mondays - see the pub website. Note if the pub door is not open during opening times, go in through the post office and the ladies there will serve you but may not be able to manage draught! Definitely an experience and just missing an ancient landlady to be a total classic.
