The Directors Box is a large open plan sports bar with multiple televisions throughout. There were three different matches playing during my visit on Wednesday evening last week, including United which explained why it was so busy and why there was a bouncer on the door. The bar, located to the right of the entrance along the front right wall, supports many premium and craft lagers. In the right rear is a pool table and along the rear wall are three raised booths with buttons for table service. Prime location for when the pub is heaving and you can’t get to the bar! This is a good spot for watching the match, but I wouldn’t come in here any other time.

With other local pubs, with the exception of Wetherspoon's closed either due to staffing shortages or incorrectly published opening times, this was my first stop on a Sunday morning arrival into Manchester.

It's a corner bar in an office block on a quiet street. There are no longer any handpumps or any cask ale. However, there were 3 slightly more adventurous craft beers - Top Rope Flash Photography & Stone Cold Cream Austin: Chocolate Fudge Cake & Atom Quantum State. I opted for the Cold Cream Austin, which was predictably cold, but quite tasty.

Just a handful of other customers were in, which may be why other local establishments had decided not to open. Most of those appeared to be getting ready for the football. Some kind of sport was showing on a couple of TVs, with one near the bar listing the beers coming soon, with a link to Untappd.

I only decided to stick around for one, but regretted my decision when I was left with only Wetherspoon's open until midday.

As described elsewhere though all 3 handpumps were on. Go here only to tick it off your pub list and move on quickly.

Recently refurbished restaurant and bar. As you enter the restaurant area is to the left with the drinkers area to the right, divided by metal display shelving with a large screen TV attached. All very nicely done with a painting of a cow on the wall and some comfortable seating. 3 handpumps on the bar with 2 on, serving Phoenix Spotland Gold & Cottage Deltic with Moorhouses's Pendle Witch turned round. At £3.60 the Spotland Gold was expensive, but in decent condition. I'll no doubt be back here as the other half will love it.

This pub has changed several times over the years, it was a piano bar for a while. It's now an open airy bar with huge windows rather than a proper pub. Has a couple of handpumps but only Deuchars was on. It was OK. The other half had a glass of wine that she enjoyed. She also liked the huge windows as we sat on the high stools very close to one. She can then pursue her favourite hobby of people watching. We usually call in on a Saturday afternoon/early evening so the loud music hasn't started then and it's quite peaceful.
