A modern roadside carvery whose main target audience is the tourist trade.  There’s a large carpark at the side just off the A38 and a small and fairly useless garden at the other end, much of which has a temporary shelter covering it.  Inside, it is cavernous, more like a carpeted aircraft hanger than a pub.  The atmosphere was further marred by the awful muzak.  The small bar at one end is indicative of its true function, purveying cheap food to the masses rather than being a comfortable local.  Three handpumps on the bar but only one ale on, Gorge Best from Cheddar, which was in average condition.  Bath Gem was available on keg.  The carvery dining area takes up about two thirds of the interior, the remainder being an open space  with a few huge round tables for those waiting to eat.  The customers were mainly also on the large side; anorexia clearly isn’t an issue here.  The staff were functional but not terribly helpful.   OK if you are travelling and want to stop for a fat-boy lunch, but not a pub of choice for a night out.

Primarily a Carvery but also a pub you can turn up to to have a drink without having to have a carvery. Get's stupidly busy on a Sunday so assume the food is quite good.
