Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Union Bar

One of two slightly cavernous modern bar / restaurant in the ground floor of one many shiny new office blocks in the Chiswick Park development. The benefit of full-height windows is largely counteracted by the dark modern furniture, floors and ceiling, and most of the tables are laid up for dining; both a bit off-putting (and the fairy-lights on the industrial ventilation pipes don't really help). On the plus side, the outside tables are on the right side of the plaza to catch the sun. Table football and two large screens. Regulation selection of keg offerings from the six taps on the two 'T'-bar founts, with two dummy handpumps in a very odd position in front of a pair of free-standing Heineken fonts. However, there are a couple of real pulls on the back wall at one end of the counter, dispensing Wimbledon SW19 Summer Ale and Watneys Pale Ale (£4.20).

aleand hearty left this review about The Union Bar

Cavernous, L-shaped modern bar, housed in an industrial unit on the Chiswick Business Park. A variety of seating styles, including high tables and some booths near the entrance, but with a strong emphasis on dining. Mostly keg fonts at the bar, with just a solitary hand pump offering Rev James Golden XPA, for ale drinkers, on my visit. Quality was decidedly ropey and for some reason it was poured from an odd looking outlet next to the bar back. I’ve no idea why. Service from the hip looking twenty and thirty somethings lacked warmth and was frankly inefficient. Very much in the ‘I’m too good to be working here’ stylee. My companion was drinking lager and they served him the wrong brand two rounds on the trot. Pretty woeful, when only two drinks were involved.

Food is in the modern canteen style, with a mixture of various cuisines. I tried the Union burger meal deal, which came with Heineken as standard. I was told by the barman, in no uncertain terms, that I couldn’t change the drink option for another beer, which struck me as rather petty. To be fair, my companion noted that the usual barmaid would probably have allowed it, so I’ll cut them some slack there. Quality, overall, was average, with a so-so burger and nigh on cremated onion rings. However, the large chunky chips were excellent.

In closing, it was all a little too corporate and bland for me. Despite the presence of Moot Bar across the way, you suspect that they don’t have to try too hard with a largely captive clientele. As a family member works close by, it may well be that I’ll call again, but it won’t be with any high expectations.
