Very friendly staff, who introduced themselves, their other patrons and their other patrons dogs my name.

No bar, gravity fed beer from a cold room.

A micropub in the original style, with no bar counter and the beers (listed on a blackboard) brought from a cold room. Decor and furnishings are casual and ad hoc, with barrels stored under benches, which are well supplied with cushions, and T-shirts on the ceiling serving the dual purpose of decoration and noise reduction. There was a friendly atmosphere, with a small group of regular customers enjoying a lunchtime beer or two.

A good sized micro, consisting of a corner entrance, front room with bench seating. A cold room midway with some seating opposite and a back room. The front area was full on our Saturday afternoon visit, which was a bonus as we took the couple of seats near the cold room, so we didn't have to move from our spot when ordering a beer. Five ales on stillage served from the cask. We went for the Burning Sky Plateau from East Sussex, which was a 3.5% pale ale and had lots of flavour, so a couple of these quite easily slipped down. The purple carpet half way up the wall was a novelty, one way of keeping the walls clean from scuff marks, I suppose.

This is a fairly typical micropub, about average or possibly slightly larger size, a cold room stuffed with casks and the usual tall furniture with casks stashed underneath. The window has a lower bench and the ceiling is adorned with a collection of beer related T shirts, maybe they were the wrong size. It's dead handy for anyone in Herne Bay on the Rock & Roll as it's right next door to the Jobcentre Plus.
I turned up here just after midday on a Thursday so was the only one in for a while and had a chat with the people who I think said were locals running it while the owner was on holiday.
There were five beers on when I arrived but the Canterbury Mild had gone and was being erased from the list. Those available were Rockin' Robin Reckless Robin & Rock Lobster, Old Dairy Blue Top and Adnam's Broadside. I tried the Blue Top (£3.20) which was excellent. While I was drinking this I discovered that a fifth micropub was due to open (hopefully) this summer a couple of streets away so decided to return at a later date on to do the grand tour and ordered a Rock Lobster (£3.40). This too was excellent.
I thought this was a great micropub and look forward to making a return visit next winter.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Bouncing Barrel

One of the flourishing East Kent micropub scene, proudly celebrating its first anniversary over the bank holiday weekend, and named after Barnes Wallis's bouncing bombs that were trialled nearby off the Reculver shore. Housed in a small shop conversion, there is no bar counter so your beer is ordered from and delivered to the table. Barrels visible on stillages through the tap room window. As you would expect, there is just a little rustic furniture and the decor comprises a large blackboard and numerous pump clips. Compact service area at the back, where some simple snacks can be prepared. Fine choice of 12 beers and four ciders - nearly all local - and my attention was immediately taken by the Gadds' Oyster Stout (first class, but at 6.2% I only went for a half at £1.30). Excellent atmosphere, and I could have happily stayed all afternoon had time permitted.
