Very characterful, higgledy-piggledy place with an unforced rustic feel over a number of low-beamed rooms; red shades, white painted wood, rugs and fairy lights. The servery is oddly situated at the far rear and is very small with a limited selection but in the rear corner is a pump, on this occasion dispensing a pretty good GK IPA (NBSS 3), served-up by friendly staff. Behind the building is a nice floral garden with a half-decent view towards the historic Norman church. A selection of eclectic pub grub is offered and no complaints about my fried chicken burger or the LQ’s beef madras, both disappeared pretty quickly. Does a good job of appealing across the board though if I were being picky I’d have thrown out whatever CD they were playing. Well-worth a stop. 7.5

With the external appearance of a small holiday cottage, the Castle Inn is surprisingly much bigger on closer acquaintance. Entrance is via a door in a side passage on the left, then a left turn into the bar area right at the back. The bar itself is then on the right, made out of the lower part of a (Welsh?) dresser, its drawers and associated carvings protected by a sheet of perspex. This has six keg taps on the top, which left me momentarily nonplussed until I spotted a couple of hand pumps on the bar back. Hobgoblin was the only beer on, which is understandable on a quiet midweek night in late autumn; the beer was in very good condition. This was a friendly village local at the time of my visit, though I dare say its character changes when there are more holiday-makers about.

Pale pebbledashed pub in a pleasant seaside village. We visited on a breezy Thursday lunchtime in September ,when we initially sat in the well planned beergarden, until the barman said we could bring our dogs into one of the little front rooms with the lovely tiled floors.
Quiet, radio two ruling the airwaves, though the welcome was friendly. On the bar, a house beer from Molson Coors, and a guest from Harbwr Tenby-M V Enterprise, a welcome pale ale.
