Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Corryvreckan (JD Wetherspoon)

Large barn-like structure owned by Wetherspoon's next to the ferry port and the railway and bus stations.

With only 3 other pubs serving real ale in the town and with much lower prices than elsewhere, I was unsurprised to see that this place was very busy. However, it was also far too noisy and boisterous for my liking. A few people were in for meals. Others were there to simply get bladdered, seemingly competing with one another to see who could shout the loudest.

Greene King Abbot & Sharp's Doom Bar are the regular ales. Guests were Greene King IPA and the seasonal Elgood's Berry Xmas Everyone, Rudgate Evil Elf & Otter Claus. One of only 2 places in Scotland I found serving any real ales from England (not that I was particularly looking for them), all of the beers were pretty bland and uninspiring.

By all means come here for the best real ale selection in town, but if you want a proper pub choose pretty much anywhere else instead.

Nice location on harbour front, in small retail area adjoining the station. Modern, bright pub

The Corryvreckan. Sits near the train station has great views and is a Wetherspoon's pub. Not much to add from earlier reviews that still stand.

The Corryreckan is part of a small leisure complex adjoining the Ferry Terminal and the Railway Station. Inside it's a modern and a bit of a barn. Fixtures and fittings are reasonable and everything is on the single ground floor. The service was variable as it tended to be groups of people coming in ordering food and coffees. I did wonder what it would be like if a busy summer ferry arrived. There are two decent sized paved patios overlooking the harbour.
The bar has ten hand pumps which had two unused, one available soon, the Scottish JDW Trio Of Doom, Arran Dark, Sambrook's Battersea Rye, Everard's Arcadia Session IPA and Leex Dirty Dozen. I went for the Arran Dark (£2.29) which sadly wasn't that good. It's not the greatest Spoons but is in a nice location.

David Ross left this review about The Corryvreckan (JD Wetherspoon)

The name is taken from the famous whirlpool between the nearby Hebridean islands of Jura and Scarba where George Orwell almost lost his life while living on Jura writing 1984. In most respects, it's a typical Wetherspoons pub with a huge selection of beers, including six from hand pumps, and food at reasonable prices. The building is modern, with a large, square shaped and rather barn like interior. The most appealing feature is the view of Oban Bay, with its ferries to the islands, fishing boats and pleasure craft, which can be enjoyed from the two beer gardens at either side or through the plate glass windows at the front. It's also close to Oban station, so is the ideal place for a quick drink if you're waiting for either the train or the boat.

One roomed Wethy's with all the usual fixtures and fittings and understaffing behind the bar. Not over keen on this one although the outside area offers good views across the bay.

A very nice new pub in a very nice setting. Disabled friendly, family friendly, good food and drink all served with a smile, well managed by the very friendly helpfull manager Brad Maclean. :-)
