E TA left this review about The Horseshoe Inn
A 19th Century village pub, previously the village forge as implied by the current name, now being overtaken by Shepton Mallet as the town grows. The internal layout remains much as it’s always been, two separate bars. On the left side is a lounge bar, irregular in shape, tiled floor, large TV screen, open hearth with a woodburner and a small dining niche hidden away in a corner. It is mostly laid to table, though there is a Chesterfield in one corner with a rug in front of it. The other, small public bar on the right contains a skittle alley. A pump clipped Doombar was on the bar,but this had just gone off only to be replaced by Frome’s Funky Monkey, a superb pint in excellent condition. The landlord was genial and friendly, although he did allow a local chugger to ask us for money. It’s a pleasant traditional local pub, worth looking for and a candidate for a crawl despite its distance from the town centre.
