Philip Carter left this review about Oxymoron at the Royal Oak

This pub is a bit of a mess, lots of clutter down one side. the lighting is very dim. No real ale, so had a Guinness, £5 a pint!! Saw the rest of the range on tap, everything £5 barring one lager, which was £4.50. The woman behind the bar was friendly, but I don't think that justifies the high prices.

Alan Winfield left this review about The Royal Oak

The Royal Oak is a very basic pub that is set in a terrace of old houses to the left and newer council houses to the right.
The outside of the pub looked a bit of a mess, but the old Youngers neon sign was nice to see.
Once inside there is a small single L shaped room which runs to the rear, the serving bar was on the left side, the seating was a mix of scruffy leather chairs all of different types plus a settee to the front, there was a piano to the front right plus lots of clutter down the right side, the rear area opened out, there was a pool table in this area, the floor was bare boarded.
There were no real ales on the bar or any bitters,i had a drink of Guinness which was a decent enough drink.
There are not many very basic pubs like this left in London, give it a visit before it is altered or closes down.
