Fairly standard member of the "loungers" chain. You know what to expect. I don't mind these places and I was happy to pop in for one. Having said that I wouldn't want to stay any longer than that!

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about Verdo Lounge

One of the smaller Loungers, with an opened-out interior leaving a square seating / dining area full of the typical café-bar furniture and walls adorned with a variety of pictures. Also has a number of tables out on the pavement. No real ale, of course, so had the Bath Ales Dark Side (£4.05).

This is an end terraced 1930s building, which was originally a bank - it is now a cafe/bar. The frontage is of brick, with a glass and grey extended lower - some of which appear, from the inside, to be retractable doors. The interior is in brick and a snotty green colour, with a wood floor. The walls are filled with eclectic pictures and, other than a few sofas, the room is populated by wood tables that are part stained in blues/pinks etc. It is a cafe by day (when i visited) so had a family feel, with cake and birthday party balloons etc. I didn't see a TV and the music was easy and at a decent level. The service was fine. After the General's review below, i wish i had visited later, as i felt a tad out of place at my visit. Beer; a few tap drinks, nut i noticed the Bath Ale's Toga Man, so had that - it was a little cloudy, but tasted fine (didn't notice at first as a bit gloomy inside). Happy i popped in, but if i went back it would be later on an evening.

This is a relatively new café/bar which has opened, I believe, within the last two years. It is situated in a converted bath showroom. As such, the layout is square with an undressed brick wall on the right as you enter. The frontage and the left hand wall are made from plate glass. The bar is situated on the rear wall to the right. It is open plan and boarded, with stripped wooden tables.

We arrived on a Sunday at 5:00ish on 22 December. It was fairly quiet, but filled out as time went on.

We were a party of four, and we all ate. Three of us had home made soup, which was delicious, followed by nine servings of tapas, which we shared. This was delicious. The fourth member of the party had a hot dog, which was huge and, I am told, delicious.

We discovered that Sunday is Quiz Night, so we stayed and joined in, though we lost, coming eighth, out of 16 teams.

Beer wise, the place does not serve Carling, or Carlsberg and frowns on shots like Jagerbombs. It does serve lager, such as Stella and Estrella. It also serves Bath Ales Dark Side on Smooth, which I believe is a Stout or Dark Mild. The only real ale is All Hail the Ale Toga Man, which I was told is a rebranded Bristol Ale. The Dark Side and Toga Man were really nice.

I found the service to be extremely friendly, all the staff taking time to speak with their customers without being obtrusive. It is not cheap, but then, neither is it outrageously expensive.

The unpubby Mrs Staal insists that I mention that the place serves tea, coffee and hot chocolate all day and has an array of cakes available on the counter. She really liked the place too.

Despite its layout and food, the place is somewhere in which you can sit and enjoy your pint or two...or coffees.

This is a highly recommended café/bar.
