Two rooms with the bar in the middle. Pool table in the right hand room. It's a Sams pub so you know what you are going to get.

This fine example of an estate pub, built in the late 50s and largely unchanged since then, is on Camra's Regional Inventory of historically important pub interiors. It was pretty quiet at the time of my visit but I didn't mind as I'm a bit of a fan of Sam's pubs and like visiting them for the quality of the buildings and the beers too. On this occasion I went for the 2.8% dark mild, a half of which set me back all of 67p. I can't imagine they get many strangers about these parts, but I agree with OB that this one is worth a visit.

A large, traditional Sam smiths pub, serving Old Brewery Bitter from handpull at £1.80, along with the usual Sam Smiths tap and bottle range. A double-fronted affair with a central bar, entering by the door to the right takes you to one main bar area with a pool table, whilst entering to the left takes you to the other main bar area from with you can also access a snug bar to the front middle and a further room to the rear. Decor is traditional and furnishings are largely banquette seating and upholstered chairs around standard tables. During my visit on Sunday afternoon it seemed to be doing a steady trade with a mix of clientele I took to be regulars. Worth dropping into if you like traditional Sam Smiths pubs.
