Here’s a photo of what the Lampost Bar is now - Bonjour, a nightclub.

The Lamppost Bar is now demolished and has reopened as Bonjour, an LGBTQ+ nightclub. No longer a pub. Another long established pub gone.

Cheap, at £2.50 for a pint of Guinness, but not particularly cheerful, this is a disappointing pub for one in such a high profile location adjacent to Glasgow Cross. It was formerly known as "Gordons" and, I think, by a few other names over the years. Tennent’s Special was on sale even more cheaply at only £2 a pint. Magner’s cider, Tennent’s light and Caledonia Best were also on offer at competitive prices. There is a separate lounge bar, which shares the same service area and was deserted on the Friday evening of my visit. Unless low prices are your principal concern, this is best avoided as there are several much superior options nearby.
