E TA left this review about The Heathfield

A former farmhouse which has been taken over by Greene King and is now assimilated into the sprawling housing estate, a development which feels quite out of place here.   It’s off the main road but is popular with families from elsewhere.  It offers B&B and has a calm restaurant feel to it, though it is hard to forget that it’s a GK outlet.  They’ve done a good job of the inside, mainly, which although open plan is arranged with areas which make it feel homely in places.  Comfy seating, a welcoming manager and a good working layout all help.  There are a few anomalies such as the salad counter, sloppily painted notice boards and a few untidy areas which spoil the image.  There were a few families in eating, one or two couples just relaxing, so it’s a good facility for the local community as well as visitors, but it doesn’t quite tick all the boxes for me.  Two ales on, Old Speckled Hen and GK IPA, both served over-gassed, tasteless and not that enjoyable.  The beer really lets it down and means I probably wouldn’t bother in future.
