Will Larter left this review about The Tom Treddlehoyle Inn

A substantial stone-built but whitewashed street corner local, with internal walls replaced by pillars and girders. There's a fireplace of exposed brick to the left which has a massive stone mantel. To the right is the bar, with four hand pumps. On my Wednesday afternoon visit there were just two beers on, Saltaire Blonde and Black Sheep Bitter, though the collection of pump clips on the bar back testifies to a plethora of previous more adventurous offers. My Black Sheep was in good condition and this was a pleasant place to enjoy a sunny afternoon, with the landlady indulging in some banter with her regulars.

Not sure if other visitors to Barnsley will consider this pub worth the trip out from the town centre, but as an incentive, this is the only pub of this name in the country. Disappointingly, the inspiration is a fictional character - see http://publictransportexperience.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/tom-treddlehoyle-and-progress-at.html for details.
