Linda Forsberg left this review about The Nelson

My husband an I ate here last month. We are from the US. I ordered the lamb shank, and my husband the "Americano Burger." When I told the waitress that we were American, she told the chef, and he got nervous. He had no need to be nervous. Although we have been back in the US for a month, my husband is still raving about the Americano burger he had at the Nelson. HE said it was the BEST burger he ever had. My lamb shank was amazing, as well, simmered all day in an amazing sauce, tender, savory. Our waitress offered fabulous service, and the Chef at the Nelson is to be highly commended. I give the Nelson the highest rating, all the way from the USA! Linda Forsberg, and my husband Ted Gibbons

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Nelson

Refurbished bar, with a raised seating area to one side and the front dining area housed in a single-storey extension. Light decor and semi-traditional furniture. Dartboard, and live music advertised. Two of three handpumps in operation, with Doom Bar and Exmoor Gold (£3.40) available.

Soup Dragon left this review about The Lord Nelson Inn

A large white rendered detached pub, with black paintwork and columned entrance porch. There is a beer patio.

Open plan on two levels, red and white walls with wood panel form the basis of the decor, with a unique set of masts (central piers)and sails make a different interior. There is a dartboard. Lots of old pictures are on the walls along with ships and other memorabilia. service was fine and the mixed clientele small. Background music was of a decent level.

What let the place down a bit was the lack of real ale choice - lucky it was Doombar, but two taps were not used. Usual tap stuff of course.

A nice place, worth a visit, would improve with another real ale
