Will Larter left this review about The Gregson

Quote from report of the Gregson Board (May 2021): "In 2020, the management company appointed by the Gregson Community Association (GCA)to run the Gregson operation gave notice that they would be filing for insolvency. Coinciding with the Covid pandemic, this forced the GCA to think carefully about how the Gregson could be run most effectively in the future. The decision was taken by the board to `bringback’ the Gregson into its own hands, the charity in future managing the building directly." According to their website the bar is now open from 5pm to 11pm on Thursday, Friday and Saturday only.

Visited this quirky place a lot this year. It's a community centre with a focus on progressive political events, plus a cafe bar serving food and local real ale. the staff are friendly and the food is excellent including genuinely tasty vegan stuff. Well worth a visit in between the Golden Lion and Britannia.

Walking along the canal from the White Cross I turned the wrong way and instead of going to the Golden Lion I walked past this place. It doesn't look like a pub and as its set in some sort of community place I had to double take. It is a small bar situated to the right as you enter the building and the single room houses a small bar. A selection of real ales were to be found. I didn't mind this place at all though I'm not too sure I'll ever be back as its not really city centreish.
