Steve C left this review about Terrace

The Terrace has an L-shaped bar on the right wall that faces a beer shelf with stools along the front window and tables up the right. The exposed brick walls run into the rear which opens up to reveal booth seating up the left and a raised area in right rear with a mix of high and standard tables. This place is called the Terrace so I thought I should haul my fat arse up the stairs to have a look at the large decked terrace with different seating areas and another bar that has limited premium keg. I was surprised to see this space in Manchester where it’s always bloody raining,
Back in the main downstairs bar there are six hand pumps, but five were unused which left Vocation’s Bread & Butter as the lone cask choice. There is a larger premium keg range than upstairs. I found the service to be very friendly, but this is the sort of place I would have enjoyed twenty years ago so I don’t plan a revisit.

As mentioned below there are two entrances to this bar with no particular signage that I noticed, I had mistaken it for the Fierce Bar a few doors up, I stopped for a beer whilst there, four handpumps on the bar but just Vocation Bread And Butter available on cask with a range of very expensive keg options. The music was loud which would be fine if Snoop Dogs your thing, otherwise be warned.

A back street cafe bar with entrances from both front and rear - it's hard to tell which is the scruffier. Any finishing touches the building may have had have been long since stripped away - bare brick was what they wanted, apparently, and bare brick is what they got. The bar, in the front part, is made of recycled timber with a veneer top, and featured tea, cake and nibbles as well as plenty of keg fonts and three sets of two hand pumps. I spotted three real ales and a cider. I went for Arbor Shangri-La, with the also-rans being Thornbridge Jaipur and Vocation Bread & Butter. Those who know me well will appreciate that these are three beers that are definitely not to my taste, but I persevered in a spirit of public service. There's a roof garden, "weather permitting", says the sign, and on the day I was here it didn't. I ventured upstairs to the toilets, which were identified by the single letters M and F on their black doors. The interiors were enlivened by graffiti, which I assume were provided by the interior decorator rather than a gang of spray-can wielding youngsters. Or perhaps...no, surely not.

Very busy on Saturday pm. As you'd expect, I suppose. Not the worst keg ale but no draught. Full of Manchester's young - would appreciate this place when it's quieter.

Two entrances to this place so depending on which way you came in the bar is obviously either near the door or further down. Sadly by the time I'd got to this place I'd given up. Real ale available but I'd lost interest in this part of Manchester.

Called in to this new bar in the N/4 twice recently. The first time it had an overpowering smell as they had just had the cellar floor varnished. You could get high without buying a drink on that visit. 6 handpumps selling Hobgoblin and 5 changing guests on that occasion. My pint of Dark Star Hophead was in very good nick. As you enter from Thomas Street the bar is on the left. There's then a corridor style drinking area with tables down the right hand side. It then opens up to a larger seating area and the entrance from Edge Street. We called in again last night and the bar was very busy for about 5 on a Thursday. Only 3 handpumps on the go this time, but my pint of Dunham Massey Bollington bitter was in good form again. It's a pleasant place to call in for one when on a N/4 pub crawl as we were.

The Terrace is friendly new bar that has recently opened in Manchester's Northern Quarter that has an entrance both on Thomas Street and Edge Street. On entering from the Thomas Street side the bar is to the left with wooded candlelit tables along the slender corridor to the Edge Street entrance where it opens out on the right with more wooded tables and a few leather setees. The walls are bare bricked and the floor is reclaimed from a gymnasium, with a few alcoves at the far end.
The beer choice was first class with an interesting and unusual array of of cask and imported beers, which included Siberia Rhubarb saison and Fireside Porter both from The Ilkley Brewing Co plus a Samual Adams beer and Kirin Ichiban from Japan. There was also Pedigree,Hobgoblin and a few Spanish draughts. The bar is managed by a former employee of the Trof group of bars and is classed as a Bar Cafe although the emphasis does seem to be on the bar side. Worth a visit.
