Quinno _ left this review about The Blue Bell

Been on my radar for a visit for years having first noted it’s striking blue exterior on my way past to Aberystwyth in 1997! Circumstances having conspired against me since then, I finally got to stop after a walk round the nearby Nant-y-Moch reservoir. Unfortunately the inside was still closed because Dai COVID but I did sneak a look en route to the gents; a fine traditional small front bar featuring slate flooring and traditional dark wood furnishings (which looked very enticing-looking for a winter’s evening) with a more austere room off to the rear. Anyway I had to make do with a makeshift outside bar and marquee seating. One ale on, a (presumably bright) Wye Valley Butty Bach which was in fine fettle nonetheless, cool on a warm day, so good I had two. This is the final pub (and civilization, pretty much) on the way ‘in’ to west Wales via the A44 before the desolate 20 minute drive through the Cambrian Mountains, so you could do worse than to pit stop here prior. Still feels like there’s an itch to scratch here.
