Its a Hickory Smokehouse place and like all of them the only way to describe them is... well... sh*t. If you like pubs avoid. If you like these kinds of pubs then great but this, like the one in West Kirby, is rubbish.

This is mainly a large, family friendly restaurant specialising in pulled pork, pulled brisket etc. There is however a small bar area where you can just have a drink and a good looking beer garden overlooking the river which is great in Summer. We've been here a couple of times recently and ate here on one occasion. The food is good, but expensive and there were a lot of kids in. The bar has one handpump alongside several lager pumps. They serve a changing Weetwood beer which has been in decent nick when we've called. Not a pub as such, but it can be very pleasant sat outside with a beer watching the world go by.

Situated in an envious position on the Groves overlooking the River Dee,Hickorys Smokehouse is as you would expect values diners rather than drinkers, and is classed as an Authentic American BBQ,with 2 of there specialities being the Southern Style Smoker done over a slow wood fire, and The Yankee Style BBQ over hot coals. There is plenty of outdoor seating plus another large area indoors, and the long bar is to your immediate right on entry. Most of the usual suspects were on offer in the beer stakes plus one hand pulled beer which i noticed to late after just investing £2 pound for half of Carlsberg. The staff were friendly enough and quite enjoyed my 20 mins sat outside watching the boats go by.
You might struggle to find the toilets in this one,the door is sort of camouflaged into a decrotive wooden wall, although there is an easily missable sign high above the door.
