After a period of closure the Blue Pig has now reopened. From memory there were a couple of real ales, we went for the Blonde by Ticketybrew when visiting at the end of last month. Towards the end of the night so my memory is a little hazy. I do, however, remember that the Blonde was pretty nice.

A sort of bistro styled place. Had 3 handpumps but only 2 on. The ceiling is covered in chalk scrawl (or whatever they use).

Recently opened bar and deli owned by the same person (Cleo Farman) as the nearby Odd, plus Odder & Oddest. She was actually working behind the bar yesterday, which is great. It's been opened in an old bank that's been delelict for quite some time, so another plus point. It's not a pub in any normal sense of the word. I believe it's been designed to look like a Parisian wine bar. There are some dining tables and chairs and a few settles around the walls and it wouldn't take many people to get it full. There are some stools for drinkers at the bar and they're happy for you to go in just for a drink even though it looks rather like a restaurant. There is a small deli on the left hand side of the bar and the sharing platters of meat, cheese, fish or make up your own looked very tempting. Now for the surprise, although not much of one if you know Odd, they have 3 handpumps. Yesterday 2 were in use selling Titanic Lifeboat & Acorn Barnsley Bitter. The Lifeboat was in very good nick although it was a bit expensive even for the Northern Quarter at £3.30. I'll definitely return, probably with the other half, a sharing board looks likely as well.

Looks good, and I love the blue pig sign outside, it is obvious that someone has put a great deal of time and effort into creating a theme variation to the venues in this area. It's worth popping your head around the door just for this alone. All they need to do now is employ staff that like customers and aren't so far up their own bottoms.
