You'd struggle finding it if you didn't know it was there, but once inside this is a splendid drinkers' pub with the typical Black Country Ales excellent range of beers. We had a Fownd Elephant Rider from Kidderminster, which proved to be very good indeed. A nice atmosphere too, with a good crowd of cheery punters, although there is some overflow space upstairs if too crowded. Certainly include on a visit to the city centre.

Black Country Ales pub in the city centre. The entrance is located along an alleyway next to the church. After negotiating the bouncer (as with all Wolverhampton city centre pubs, it is home fans only a Wolves matchday), we descended the steps into the small bar. Further seating can be found down more stairs in an outdoor courtyard.
The usual Black Country Ales are on - BFG, Fireside & Pig on the Wall, along with a number of guests - Elgood's New World Session, Sharp's Atlantic, Mallinson's NZ Double, Titanic Plum Porter & Salopian Lemon Dream. The real cider was Thistly Cross Whisky Cask. Samosas and possibly other snacks were available, but soon sold out after the influx of football fans.
Certainly one of the better pubs in the city centre, but there are better pubs in Wolverhampton (if you are allowed in them) and there are also better Black Country Ales pubs across the region.

Probably the pick of the town centre pubs for beer choice. I am a big fan of the BCA chain and this place is no exception. The usual 3 house beers plus Maypole Hop Fusion, Quantock QBNZ, Fownes UGA, Beowulf Mercian Shine, Mr. Grundy's No Mans Land and Bespoke Brewing Over A Barrel. The 2 we tried were excellent. Well worth a visit.

An old favourite in Wolverhampton, currently undergoing an external facelift but the pub is open and doesn’t fail to satisfy.

Enjoyed our visit to this Black Country Ales pub on Saturday. It has a brilliant lift for disabled access. our beer choice was Binghams Doodle Stout and Kinver Witchfinder General, both of which were fine.

Typical Black Country Ales Pub. Large choice of relatively unheard of breweries from anywhere in the UK.
Surprised to see a household name brew in Purtity Mad Goose on offer. Looked fantastic. Smelt not so good.
Good pubby experience and I would come back.

A cracking little pub. 10 handpumps serving 10 different beers. The entrance from one side means you have to descend some stairs, the other entrance requires you to climb some stairs. A lift is provided. A sort of zig zag shape to the interior with the slightly larger drinking area to the right of the bar. An older worlde feel to the inside. Patio area outside.

Great detail from PSM below,if you go to the outside courtyard and look up at the building ,you can see the timber framed features of this old building.The ale range on my visit was three Black Country ales and five guests,but the guest brewers chosen were all rather second division (including Burton Bridge x 2,Black Wolf and Black Hole) and it proved difficult to find a pint which justified a second.
Not one of the best BCA oulets,but an interesting building none the less.
