Bar 8 is a small Irish sports bar that serves lots of canal side outside seating. Inside the pub there was lots of visual stimulation during a recent Wednesday evening visit. Formula One replays were being shown a the projector screen and muted South American football was on one of the televisions. The small bar counter on the rear wall, manned by a very friendly barman, supports premium keg options. There is lots of Irish Paraphernalia on the walls, including a big flag with the words for the Fields of Athenry printed on it. Stored under the projector screen is an outside bar that has been taken in for the winter. Makes sense because the bar is too small to effectively serve the outside table on a nice summers day. Food is advertised, although I didn’t spot a menu.
I don’t plan to revisit here anytime soon.

At least they had Aspell cider. Not much else going for it and it's a bit out of the way.

A little cubbyhole of a bar with very limited room and seating inside. There's also a very large TV showing sport. Its main attraction is the large outside patio next to the canal basin. A selection of lagers were being sold at eye watering prices. These had to be served in a squidgy plastic pint glass, even halves and red wine!!!! I just don't see how this bar is going to survive in Winter. There's nothing going for it inside and there won't be anyone sitting outside in the rain.
