After trudging around some rather basic boozers, The Maritime more than made up for it. What a treasure - why isn't it in the GBG??? A perfect 'no nonsense' landlady, excellent and well kept beers, great music, George (the dog) and parrot make this a must to visit. Pat, you're a treasure!

Its well worth trudging up the steps from the Quay to King Street. Not only because you get a super view back over Brixham Quay, but you also find The Maritime Inn. This has to be the best looking pub in Brixham from the outside and the best preserved inside. The inside is traditional wooden beamed pub décor centred on a large open fireplace with lots of local historical documents and photos on the walls and a large collection of tat and artefacts hanging from the walls and ceiling, including a collection of porcelain jugs and bedpans, and a small ship’s piano hidden away in one of the corners. It has a pretty impressive collection of Whiskies behind the bar and at the time of my visit had three real ales, Bays Best, St Austels Tribute and a third that I cannot remember. Wasn’t the best pint of Bays I had during my visit to Devon , but that can be completely forgiven considering all the other things this pub has going for it.
Recommended.
