David Ross left this review about Port Askaig Hotel

Literally 30 seconds walk from the harbour where ferries sail to Jura, Colonsay and the mainland, this is a beautifully situated traditional style inn. There are two bars and a wonderful beer garden right on the waterfront (but beware midges in summer). The bar nearest the road, to the right of the picture, serves as the village pub, while the other is more geared to residents and diners. Specialises in local seafood and the numerous Islay malt whiskeys and has live folk music most weekends.
