An interesting two floored café bar which was absolutely freezing on our Sunday evening visit. There's a large fire upstairs surrounded by comfy chairs and sofas and another downstairs surrounded by people. The ones round the fire were "alright jack" but they blocked the heat from spreading. We couldn't even take our coats off. There's lots of bric-a-brac all over the place. It would take several visits to spot it all. There was also a feral child running around downstairs. The beer range was nowhere near as inventive as when BF visited, with only 3 ales available and none of them in the slightest bit interesting. We may have caught it on an off day, but we really weren't impressed.

Opposite the Tracle Tap,so easy to fall into on a crawl this pub is popular with the well behave young folk on a Friday evening. The high serving counter has the 4 handpumps immediately in front of the entrance, while the room opens out to the side, and this is where live music occurs at weekends. There is seating around a large fireplace and a higher level bench seating, while upstairs is a large chill out room with most sofas but some regular tables and chairs.
The four handpumps were drawing Salopian Lemon Dream,Wincle Wibbly Wallaby (decent),Storm Brewing Bosley Cloud and Cmrw Ial The Apache Line, which I thought was an interesting line up.
Worth including on a Macc crawl.

A review from August 2016

Friendly little cafe and bar a short walk from the train station. 5 hand pumps, each with a different ale on, 2 ales from the local Storm Brewing Co, I opted for a pint of Wincle Brewery Haymaker @ 3.9% followed by Red Mist @ 3.9% from Storm Brewing Co. In addition to the 5 cask ales there's Goose Island IPA and Anchor Steam Beer on keg. There's also 7 high quality lagers & Stowford Press cider.

The walls are all wooden with a mish mash of paintings, drawings & photos hanging on them. The furniture is old and upcycled, this includes a piano and a sowing machine table. Its a real electric mix but it works & adds to the boheimian feel of the place.

There is a book nook in the basement with antique lighting and more nick nacks.

Opens at 9.30am on a Saturday for food and beer and is one of the earliest to be open in town with most pubs not open until 12 noon.

The Snow Goose was not on my list to visit while here for football but I'm glad I popped in for a pint.

Thoroughly decent in my opinion and worth a stop if walking up / down Sunderland St towards the station.

An Artisan café bar, which caters for a wide variety of customers. When we arrived, there were a couple of artists displaying their work on the main wall as you enter, who were pleasant and chatty. The young barmaid I have to say, was a bit scatty. She served our two pals, and then left me standing at the bar, as she waltzed round the back to finish whatever she was eating.
She did return to serve me two ales from the Storm Brewing Co, which were Silk of Amnesia and Pale Gale Ale - maybe the barmaid was suffering from Amnesia.
The interior was mostly timber, pine timber panelled walls, the bar made from pine timber planks, pine furniture and timber floor.

An interesting place. Its trying to be everything at once - wine bar, pub, cafe, Bohemian bollocks, music venue. 4 real ales on with 2 coming from Storm Brewery on this visit. Its on 2 floors as far as I could make out. Very limited seating in the main ground level bar. Lots of cakes, biscuits and pies on the bar. The whole place just seemed cluttered to me. Its not bad but I just struggled to like it.

Amazing eclectic hub for fine wines and well kept ales, always great service with a smile and loads going on from art exhibitions and classes to live acoustic bands and jamming sessions. Good food served daytime too, definately worth a visit.
