Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Rolle Quay Inn

Having been in Barnstaple the previous evening, I returned to visit my one pub that was outstanding (outstanding in that I hadn't managed to visit, not in any other sense).

Both Google and Whatpub have this pub as closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. However, I had happened to pass by on the Wednesday evening to find a printed list of opening times showing that the pub did actually open from 4-8 on a Wednesday. Whether this was actually true, I don't know. It was 8:20pm on the Wednesday evening. They had maybe not long closed, or perhaps the printout was out-of-date. Who knows.

Returning late on a Thursday evening, I found the pub busy with a quiz ongoing in the main room. There is also a smaller bar area with a pool table, which also had a couple of customers. Not wishing to disturb the quizgoers or the pool players in the bar, I chose a round table near the entrance to survey the goings on.

Tribute is the regular real ale here. Gem was the guest. In truth, it probably wasn't worth returning to Barnstaple to visit this pub, but in such difficult economic times, I can understand why many pubs are staying closed for much of the week.

This was te first pub we visited way back in the erly 1980's and is still a very good pub next tote river Yeo on the edge of the town centre. Now serving St Austell ales and apparently a good reputation for food.

One of the nicest friendliest pubs I have had the pleasure to frequent. Chris and Lynne who run the pub really do their best to make you feel welcome. Great atmosphere with many events throughout the year. Serving 3 real ales that rotate with 3 pumps tied to St Austel beers. Since Chris and Lynne took over the restaurant has really come into its own with a wide range of freshly prepared food (Sunday roast is not to be missed, book early). Ideally situated for walking and shopping with several rooms available for accommodation. A real one stop shop!
