Blackthorn _ left this review about Clifton Sausage

In reality this is more of a restaurant/wine bar type establishment than your traditional pub, but there is nonetheless a small bar counter and a number of bar stools tucked down one end which is a pleasant enough spot in a slightly hectic sort of way. The front half of the pub is open and airy with large windows, black wooden boards on the floor and chunky wooden tables. Paintwork is a pale green, with some darker green wooden boards on the lower part of the walls. The backdrop to the bar was made up of shelving for wine bottles.

Down a couple of steps to the rear is the restaurant area, and this is a quite different atmosphere with low ceilings, and generally much more enclosed. Candles adorned the tables as well as the bar counter and window sills. Although we didn’t eat on this occasion, we have done several times previously, and always found it to be decent enough. As the pub’s name suggests, the emphasis is very much on sausages, and there were half a dozen or so different varieties available which were priced at £9.75 with some accompanying mash. If sausages aren’t your think there were a few other dishes available, although these were somewhat more expensive at around the £14 - £16 mark. In addition to this there was a small bar snack menu, many of which continued the sausage theme, with options such as whitebait, olives, sausage rolls and sausage sandwiches.

Beer choice was somewhat limited, with Butcombe being the only draught offering and Ashton Press was the solitary cider. There were however around 25 wines available by the glass.
