Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Bevy

Admirable community effort to ensure that there is something to fill a large gap in the housing estates on the north-eastern outskirts of Brighton. The basic bar (and pool table) occupies about 2/3rds of the building, with a daytime café area to the right (beyond which there is a small terraced patio beer garden). Disappointingly, though, there is now no cask beer from the three handpumps because the Harvey's was stopped in August 2023 due to a lack of demand apparently.

I attempted to visit the Bevendean back in 2011, but alas it was closed and I left with the impression that it was being converted into a residential premises. Thankfully I was wrong because local residents got together and the Bevy Community Pub and Café was opened just in time for Christmas in 2014. The Bevy has been on my revisit list since I learned of its resurrection so I was pleased when I got the chance to pop in on a recent Friday afternoon.
Out the front by the entrance are a few picnic tables and to the right is an asphalted area that supports more picnic tables. During my visit the sun was beating down so I was happy to find some covered seating on a decked area to the immediate right of the pub. The interior consist of a café seating area to the right where there is table football and a bar to the left where there is a dartboard. There is also a plasma screen which was switched off in favour of some background music. Standard draught is available from the bar that was lined with some local characters with colourful language. I also noted three hand pumps that were drawing Harvey’s Best, Gun Brewery’s Smoked Rye and Seacider. With this also being a café I imagine that food is available, but I didn’t notice any menus (not that I looked very hard). I found the service to be friendly and I would probably own part of this pub if I lived locally, but I’m not sure that I would go out of my way to revisit. Good luck to them!
