Being a Brentford fan I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to pop into Bees Knees for a swift half. There’s a pool table by the entrance and ahead is a wooden floor with sparse furniture that I imagine is moved later in the evening to create a dance floor. On the left wall is a DJ booth. Down some steps to the right is an island bar that is circled by high tables. There were ten or so people in ranging in age from ‘probably not legally allowed’ to ‘been drawing the state pension for many-a-year’. Televisions are located throughout for showing Sky Sports, which was muted for some crap pop music. The barmaid was friendly and the bar supports standard keg alongside Birra Moretti. I decided to sit at one of the tables up on the would be dance floor and mid drink the disco lights came on so I decided to slosh it back and move on, never to return.

A large split level drinking barn. A pool table on the upper level and a large island bar on the lower level. There are loads of TV screens which were all showing At The Races on my Friday late aftenoon visit. This pub offers a stamped card system on draught beers until later at night. The pub prices are low anyway with my half of fizz being £1.20 when a pint was £1.96. This explains the level of clientele, who, whilst friendly enough are the sort of hardened, all day drinkers that you usually get in a JDW. This place is even cheaper than the 2 nearby JDWs during the day. I'll not be calling in here anytime again soon though.
