Will Larter left this review about Old Red Lion

I dare say most people would find this quite a pleasant pub, but I'm afraid the combination of the syrupy gloopy MoR musak from Magic FM and the sight of my beer being carefully placed onto a folded black napkin rather than a drip tray or a beer mat somehow managed to give my irritability button a very firm press. This pub has been contrived from a couple of differently shaped neighbouring buildings in local millstone grit, but they've been hacked about inside so much over the last hundred years or so that it's most unlikely that anything genuine remains. There's a fireplace to the right on entering, with some split logs in it, but I also caught sight of a gas pipe running up the wall beside it, so I'm not sure that a genuine fire is likely here either.

Getting away from all the negativity for a minute, there are four hand pumps arrayed on the bar, but unfortunately only one beer was on, and that the local blandest-of-all-blands, Bradfield Farmers Blonde. There was a Taylors Landlord pump clip turned around, so on another day I might have got a decent drink and written a more positive review. As I said at the top, some people like this sort of thing, but as Bob Dylan might have said, it sure ain't me, babe.
