Angle’s village centre pub. Odd name, though WhatPub speculates that it’s named after a ship of the same name. Doesn’t look much from the outside though it’s quite large inside. There’s a nice bare stone main bar with tile floor, scrubbed wood tables, high bench seating and some homely touches along with a few nautical prints. Two cask at the bar and I did wonder whether I, as the first customer of the day, would end-up getting diddled and so it proved with a dire Tomos Watkin Haf (NBSS 1) which had been cooking in the pipes for lord knows how long and a Rev James which had at least been poured at some point within the previous few hours (2.5). Having only a few minutes before the bus I ditched the grot and sighed inwardly; if the cask had been serviceable I’d have been fairly keen on this one because of the characterful bar.
