Alan Hurdle left this review about Sir Henry Royce

"New" pub opened in 1973 to replace The Nelson next door which was demolished after the Sir Henry Royce opened. The pub name was a tribute to the Rolls Royce factory in Hulme. This typical two room 'estate pub' was demolished itself in the 1990's in line with the infamous crescents and replaced with better quality housing.

The Sir Henry Royce was a typical Hulme estate pub that looked a bit grotty from the outside,it also had a brilliant back drop of one of hulmes crescents.
I really enjoy doing these types of pubs, once inside i went in the bar which was fairly basic and had a bit of a rough edge to it,ther may have been other rooms but i did'nt look.
This pub was a Whitbread tied house but there were no real ales on here,i had a drink of keg Chesters bitter and this was a pretty poor drink.
The pub was quite busy and i was happy enough having a drink in here.
I forgot to take a photo of this pub and i would like to thank Alan Hurdle for finding this photo and getting permission to show it on this site.
