Will Larter left this review about The George Inn

A traditional village in with an appearance of being built of local stone, but the side walls are rendered and may be made of bricks or rubble, and the main bar area is in a more modern extension at the rear. On entering it seems that the periods of Covid lockdown were spent sanding and renovating many beams and joists, with a smell of fresh timber noticeable. More welcome was the sight of four hand pumps on the bar (see photo), and the option of a fifth on the other section of bar counter facing the smaller front room. This turned out to be the very good Small World Barncliffe Bitter. Our only problem was having only room for a half, and we had to promise ourselves another visit some day. This was a very friendly local, though the rigidly rectangular building meant that people were sitting around the walls looking across at each other. This was balanced with the friendly welcome from licensee and staff, the interest they gave to our description of the re-opened Fountain at nearby Ingbirchworth, and the general congenial atmosphere. Oh, and they changed the background music when I said how awful it was - there's customer service for you. We *will* be back!
