Will Larter left this review about The Heights

The inn sign at the entrance to the car park promises a "rustic inn", but my idea of such a thing was not met on this occasion. It looks like what might have been a large guest house that has only recently added a public bar, but I could be wrong. The bar can be entered through the main hotel door, but it also has its own door leading in from what would be an outside drinking (and eating) area in warmer months. Despite the wood-panelled bar counter to the left, there's not much of a pub vibe about this place, it feels more like a cafe bar, or sports bar. On my second night in Llanberis I went into the room to the left, which is slightly more publike, but still not rustic. There are five hand pumps on the bar, but only two beers on, with it being low season and also early in the week. I went for the Llyn Porth Neigwl IPA on Monday, and the Black Sheep Monty Python Holy Grail on Tuesday. Both beers were in good condition but not really to my taste. Nevertheless, this is probably the best pub in Llanberis.

Called in The Heights to seek refuge from the elements on a very wet and dismal Bank Holiday Monday.Situated at the foot of Mount Snowden and not surprisingly is a popular attraction for hikers, the pub classes itself as a casual bar and kitchen. The place is quite modern looking inside and was doing a fair food trade on my lunchtime visit, with there also being a fair selection of Whisky's plus a good range of imported bottled beers although slightly on the pricey side. There were 3 cask beers and 1 cider on handpump with the American Amirillo Single Hop and one from The Purple Moose Brewery both in good nick.Worth a visit if you are in the area.
