A much smarter pub than the exterior suggests - grey paint is never a good look for a pub - with maroon leatherette bench seating. One corner by the bar has spangly wallpaper with a pattern of musical notation, which suggests karaoke, but there was nothing of the sort going on at 2:45 on a Sunday afternoon when I walked in to find myself the only customer. Having just come from the nearby Wilton, where I had to ask someone to make room so that I could open the door, this was a little surprising. The lass running the pub said something about "they've all gone home for their dinners", but when I went in the Midland just a couple of doors along the road a few minutes later it was pretty busy.

The main room has the bar counter, with a second room further on housing the pool table, and darts in a smaller room on the right before entering the bar. There are two hand pumps but no real ale on, so I had a Guinness. Whatever match from the World Cup in Qatar continued to play to an empty room after I left.

The New Inn is a decent sized pub that is just down from the Midland Inn,the pub still has its old Mappin's Beers signs in stone running across the front of the pub.
Once inside there was an oblong shaped room to the left, this room was quite smart and comfortable, there was leather bench seating, the room was carpeted, there was a gas fire on the go keeping the room fairly warm, there was a pool table to the far left,a TV was showing fotball.
There was a smaller room to the right which was empty on my early evening visit.
There were no real ales on the bar,i had a drink of keg Stones bitter which was drinkable, the other beer was John Smiths smooth crap.
I quite liked this pub, just a shame there were no real ales on here.
