Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Wine Vaults

A bit of a strange one, this, being a right mix of traditional and modern throughout the jumbled arrangement of various rooms beyond the front bar. Also features a rear patio area. Music at more than background level, and live events advertised. Greene King IPA and Belhaven Grand Slam (£4.00) available from two of three handpumps.

A multispace multiroom bar with slightly different feels in each. There's the modern bar with counter at the front then other modernish / oldish spaces beyond including a comfy sofa room with library wallpaper as described by Quinno. Three pulls, one with an own label, Hooky and a Greene King special. Cocktails wines and spirits as well as utility kegs are also available. Odd mix of trendy youths drinking cocktails/spirits and lager drinking middle aged farts on my visit although I was drinking Hooky and it wasn't bad. It's ok as a bar though.

If the enticing exterior (replete with come-hither lamp) was representative of the interior it would be a must-visit. It isn't, though judging by comments elsewhere it once was. The front bar has a bit of atmosphere but that disappears in the areas further back. These show how the pub could have been but has been lost to garish modernisation where once there were snugs and wood panelling. The best room is to the left of the bar, accessed by taking a u-shaped turn, which is kitted out with comfy seats and mock library bookcase wallpaper. The fireplace with wood logs is actually gas, sadly. There was a TV in this room that was turned off, which allowed the full thud thud of the stupidly overloud music to make my head hurt. Three pumps were at the bar with two beers on; GK IPA and OSH, with the seasonal Fireside unavailable. The OSH wasn’t up to much although the barmaid was friendly enough.

This feels like a sad place and I really wouldn’t want to return unless some big changes were made.

The Wine Vaults is a stone built pub that looks fairly nice from the outside.
Once inside there were a few different rooms and i had a drink in the room at the front which was decent enough.
The pub is a Greene King tied house and there were two real als on the bar i had a drink of Greene King IPA and this was fairly nice the other beer was GK Abbot.
