Suburban Green is a small table service only bar and restaurant that was busy with a very middle class crowd during a recent midweek early evening visit. There are six premium keg fonts on the back bar and the hand pumps have been removed. There was some background music playing. Out the front is a small decked area with seating. I instantly regretted walking in and was about to turn about-face before I was pounced on by the guy working the floor. This isn’t somewhere I would go for a drink again.

I liked this place mainly due to the 6 handpumps on the bar. It is open plan with 2 areas, one facing the bar and one to the left side. Wooden floored throughout except for the raised tiled area at the bar. An old/replica(?) gramophone is in the front area. Outside is a pavement patio. Beers were from Thornbridge, Red Willow, Robinson's, Track, Moorhouse and whoever does a beer called Wingman. Quiet on my afternoon visit.

This is a small wooden floored corner shop conversion. It forms an L shape with the bar stuck right at the back. There is an old fashioned looking jukebox prominently placed.
It was quiet on my Saturday lunchtime visit.
The bar has six hand pumps which had Mobberley WhirlyBird, Beartown Black Bear, Happy Valley Small & Mighty and Redwillow Directionless, Sleepless & Smokeless. I went for the Sleepless which was served in a stupid dimple mug which I spotted too late to get changed. They charged a whopping £3.90 as well which to me is London prices but at least it was in good condition. Despite the GBG 2015 listing, I thought this place was expensive and uninspiring, but the three Redwillow beers are an attraction.

Called in again Thursday early evening and it was a totally different bar. Friendly barstaff and a few regulars dressed quite normally, not like the Friday evening "see and be seens". My pint was in excellent condition as well. The pub has made the CAMRA GBG2014. This place is a 5 on a Friday night but I'll up my score now as it's a great place at other times..

This small bar is, not surprisingly, set up like a parlour. The tables and chairs are very close together to pack people in though. On my Friday early evening visit this bar was full of people who think they are somebody along with their mainly feral kids. The barman had a trim beard and was wearing a cap which sums the place up really. There were 6 handpumps for ale and one for real cider. I decided to just have a half and was served a beer from Brightside in a Red Willow ladies glass! The beer was in good condition though. The pub is dog friendly as there was a small "pub terrier" sat at the bar. It also has a jukebox which is a bit surprising. I suspect that this may be quite a decent bar in midweek, but on my visit the place was full of arses. I suspect they do a double header with the nearby Horse & Jockey. This is the sister pub to the Castle Hotel in Manchester city centre. It's a very different place though.
