Unchanged since K attended four years ago. Middle of a Monday afternoon, so social distancing wasn't a problem in the tiny bar, indeed we got the room, and the uncomfortable furniture, to ourselves. Otherwise, it's got all the usual Cotswold hotel hangups: guidebook stickers on the door, nothing I'd want to eat on the menu, and no pound signs on it either.

Hooky, Butcombe and two others on the pumps, we tried the Hooky, which was on the turn. Chances are they'll be on the same barrels this time next week.

The garden looks lovely.

This is a food-oriented establishment located on the main drag through this toothsome Gloucestershire market town. A small bar faces you upon entry from the front, and on my visit proferred a choice of Hook Norton Old Hooky, Butcombe Bitter, Sharps Cornish Coaster and Bath Gem (the latter a reasonable £1.75 for a half). With dining areas set off to the left and right of the bar area, scores of waiting staff rushing here and there, and the bar area itself filled with locals enjoying a post-work Friday evening drink, I had to call upon years of vertical drinking expertise to see off my half in quick time and leave them all to it.
